Release liners

Paper liner substrates have dominated the release liner market from the early days of self adhesive laminate development.

Calendared krafts
Release based on glassine calendared kraft are used in practically all standard roll label self-adhesive applications. They are most commonly used because of their; smoothness, density, even calliper, translucency, silicone hold out, mechanical strength and adequate dimensional stability.

  • 40 BG – white bleached glassine liner with excellent roll label converting properties.Primarily used with film facestock. Designed for low to medium speed dispensing. Not recommended for sheeted applications.
  • 40 SCK – Bleached super-calendered kraft liner for roll to roll applications using paper facestocks. Not recommended for sheeted applications.
  • 50 SCK – Coated liner adding to the overall stability of the total construction in roll to sheet applications.

Clay coated

They have become well established particularly for sheet label and heavyweight vinyls because of their lay flat characteristics. They have a much greater tear resistance, but inferior strength, as compared to comparable glassine backing papers.

  • 78 MF -  Bleached kraft liner used primarily with film facestock for roll to sheet applications, including cut sheet laser.
  • 90 LF -  Bleached kraft liner used primarily with film facestock for roll to sheet applications, including cut sheet laser.

Polymer coated papers

They combine the strength of long fibered papers such as MG krafts with the smooth non-absorbent surface of plastic film. These are significantly more expensive than glassines, calendared krafts of clay coated papers. They are therefore used primarily in specialty insulatin products, covering films, tapes etc..

  • 44PK – poly coated brown kraft liner. Specially designed for high speed automatic dispensing applications. Not recommended for sheeted and fan-folded applications.

Film liners
Filmic release liners offer unique properties, which the conventional paper backings cannot; a smooth maximum hold out surface, a uniform calliper, excellent dimensional stability, transparency, gloss, high tensile and tear strength, impervious to damp or humid application, reistance to die cutting penetration of the backing, easier recycling of plastic, high internal delaminating resistance, tailored flexibity or stiffness and low compressibility.

  •  Polyester (PET)  -  thickness range 0.5 mil – 5. mil.  Durable, hazy clear film liner featuring maximum strength and toughness. Used primarily for roll to roll, high speed dispensing applications
